Our Mission
Open Range Construction Co.'s mission is to guarantee our clients a lifetime of comfort and quality while preserving the environment for future generations by incorporating superior construction methods and 'green' technologies in every home we build. Our research, knowledge and experience using ICF technology and the principles of Universal Design allow us to provide clients with high quality homes that reflect the principles we are founded on: energy-efficient materials and environmentally sustainable construction methods must be used in all homes being built now and in the future; homes must be constructed to withstand the ravages of time and nature and must be designed to accommodate the homeowners' needs regardless of age or ability.
About Insulating Concrete Form Construction
“Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) give you all the benefits that have made concrete the material of choice for home building worldwide: Solid, lasting construction that resists the ravages of fire, wind, and Father Time”
Two built-in layers of foam insulation give an ICF home an R-Value of 40, requiring approximately 44% less energy to heat and 32% less energy to cool than comparable frame houses.
In addition, experience and testing have proven that ICF homes are more likely to remain standing through fire than other structures. Unlike wood, concrete does not burn nor does it soften or bend like steel. At 2000 degrees, it would take ICF walls up to 4 hours to fail.
An ICF home has a remarkable feel that has to be experienced to be believed. When you step inside an ICF home, you can tell it is not an ordinary house; as the sounds of the outside world are replaced by peace and quiet you can feel that it is solid and built to last.
